Visa Merchant Purchase Inquiry, or VMPI, is a program from Visa which provides merchants with a mechanism to respond to inquiries from cardholders regarding unrecognized transactions and other dispute categories before a chargeback/dispute is submitted. By merchants providing relevant, supplemental details in near real-time, merchants can deflect a substantial share of their chargebacks.
