Gift Cards: Reaping the Rewards and Managing the Risk

Gift cards, particularly digital gift cards, represent a big revenue opportunity for eCommerce companies, but come with a unique set of fraud prevention challenges. In this presentation, Riskified provides an overview of the gift card industry and shares gift card trends and risks, including distinctions between digital and plastic gift cards as well as open and closed loop cards. Digital gift card fraud is then examined in detail, followed by tips and strategies for preventing abuse as well as gathering evidence to dispute chargebacks on gift card orders.
