When AOL launched a build-your-own-bundle product offering a combination of services and gift cards, the offer went viral and purchases sky rocketed. In a post-launch evaluation, AOL stressed fraud should be part of the technology design up front, scripts and other automated checks should have the ability to be turned on and off, and detailed reporting was needed to document why specific transactions were denied.
