New MRC Member Portal Invite Users Feature

The MRC Member Portal is your self-service hub to view and modify key professional and company information the MRC has on file. For Subscription Masters and Administrators, it is also the place to maintain the roster of people on your company's membership, such as approving new users or deactivating users who are no longer with your company.

Long-standing Masters and Administrators will recall the Member Portal featured an Add Users option to directly add an individual to your company's membership. This option was removed in summer 2018 as it was not compatible with the tenants of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Acting on feedback we received after the Add Users feature was removed, the MRC is pleased to introduce a new, fully compliant option to initiate the new user process: Invite Users. Subscription Masters and Administrators will find the new feature after clicking Subscription -> Manage Subscription in the Member Portal.

Clicking the orange Invite Users button on the Manage Subscription page will result in a popup with fields for First Name, Last Name, and Email Address. Simply enter the first and last name of the person you would like to invite to join your MRC membership, then enter their email address in the space provided. Note that once you type the "@" symbol as part of the email address, a list of email domains the MRC has on file for your company will be shown. Just select the appropriate domain for that user's email address. Enter the names and email addresses for any other users you would like to invite, clicking the + sign in the lower left portion of the popup if you need additional rows.

When you are finished, click the Invite button. For each user, an email message will be sent to the email address supplied with a unique alphanumeric key and an invitation to the user to join your company's MRC membership. The user will simply copy and paste the member key into the MRC New User Request Form to validate ownership of their email address, then fill out the brief professional details and select their desired communication preferences.

Once they click Submit, they will automatically be added to your company's membership. Because the invitation was initiated by you as a Subscription Master/Administrator, you do not need to log into the Member Portal to provide approval for users you invite.

A few items to note:

  1. New user invitations expire after 10 days. If a newly invited user has not completed the New User Request Form eight days after being invited, they will be sent an email reminding them their invitation will expire in two days. If the newly invited user does not complete the New User Request Form within 10 days of being invited, their information will be removed from the MRC's systems. In this case the user will need to be re-invited, or they may obtain a member key by signing up for MRC emails or an MRC webinar, MRC Connects event, or MRC conference as described here.

  2. Users added through the Invite Users process are assigned the base Standard Subscriber role by default. If you would like to set an invited user's role to one with additional functionality (Subscription Billing Manager, Subscription Administrator, or Subscription Master), you will need to log into the Member Portal to change their user role after they have completed the New User Request Form and been added to your company's membership.

  4. As a Subscription Master/Administrator, you will still need to log into the Member Portal to review and either approve or decline users who have requested to be added to your company's MRC membership outside of the Invite Users process.
