The Technology Specialist, Events supports the development and implementation of a variety of event technology systems used by the Merchant Risk Council (MRC), an organization which focuses on educating, informing and advocating for its membership on trends in ecommerce payments and fraud. This position is part of the Programs & Technology team, reporting to the Technology & Innovation Manager, and works closely with the Events team to define and implement the technical processes across our platforms driving in-person and virtual events, webinars, mobile apps, and digital production. This role requires additional cross-department collaboration with the Marketing, Membership and Finance teams to bring well-designed experiences and content to our member merchant companies and solution providers.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The MRC Programs & Technology team works in collaboration with the Events team to deliver the systems that power the MRC’s busy calendar of high-profile international in-person and virtual events. The technology stack with which you will be working includes Salesforce (membership management), Cvent (event management), Airtable (event administration, sponsorship sales), and Quickbooks (accounting).

In this role, you will:

  • Create event and membership technology experiences that are easy for attendees to navigate and engage
  • Understand event software capabilities and event objectives to guide stakeholders on best practices for setup
  • Act as liaison between MRC’s business stakeholders and our third-party development teams
  • Gather and analyze technical and business requirements, translating them into technical specifications and functional design documents
  • Define and supervise strategies for integrations between systems, optimizing business process and data flow
  • Support the development of event registration websites and mobile event apps in Cvent
  • Possess an understanding of Android and iOS user interfaces and ecosystems to aid in the downloading, installation, content display and use of mobile applications
  • Understand and assist with general event technology tasks, including reporting and analytics
  • Offer technical support to MRC members and event attendees before, during and after events
  • Research new technology opportunities
  • Provide onsite assistance at events, as required
  • Assist the wider Programs and Technology team with other tech initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of applicable experience (event technology, product management, business analysis)
  • Cvent management experience (Flex certification preferred)
  • Salesforce administration experience
  • Foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS and basic graphic design skills
  • Proficient in MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong technology acumen and self-starter/entrepreneurial aptitude for learning new technologies / applications
  • Strong analytical/quantitative skills and the ability to translate analysis into concrete action
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that can be applied internally, with members/attendees, and when managing vendors
  • Ability to translate technical jargon and nuanced technical concepts into key takeaways for stakeholders
  • Penchant for logistical systems and workflows, and an appreciation for automation
  • Analytic thinking skills required to understand key metrics, derive insights, evaluate performance, and recommend improvements
  • Drive to deliver projects on time and efficiently – understanding what it takes to get the job done when multiple teams and dependencies are involved
  • Proactive personality – ability to identify and react to results
  • Ability to negotiate with and manage vendors to ensure that quality standards and deadlines are met
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment with high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong people skills and a willingness to share industry knowledge across a variety of audiences
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% to attend team onsite meetings and conferences

Work Location: Remote/U.S. (Preference given to MA, PA, GA, OR, WA, TX, VA, CO, IL, FL, CT, NM)
